Anurag, a Class IX student of La Martiniere for Boys has set a new record in the history of 180 years’ old school by achieving a rare and the highest honour a student can ever dream of. This achievement for exceptional performances in a specific sport is usually won by students of Class XII. Anurag is the first student of Class IX who has had the honour of wearing a triple-barred tie. The award for this achievement was handed over to him by the school Principal.
After winning six gold medals at the District Swimming Championship held in the Kidderpore Swimming Club, he went on to win another three at the State Swimming Championship which was held at Tamluk. Anurag represented the state at the 42nd Junior National Swimming Championship in Pune where he won a gold medal as well as a silver and a bronze medal. He was selected to represent the country in the 8th Asian Age Group Championship held in Bangkok as a result of his performance at the nationals. He ranked 6th in 100m breaststroke among the 46 countries that participated in this meet.
