Akshara International School hosted its annual sports extravaganza ‘Ignite 2015’ in the presence of chief school patron and former president Pratibha Patil, cricketer Zaheer Khan, state information commissioner Ravindra Jadhav and education commissioner Purushottam Bhapkar. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by march past by the school heads and captains. Chief Guest Zaheer Khan released balloons in the air to declare the sports meet open.
The cultural programme began with a classical performance by students from class I to IX. An array of track and field events were held thereafter, including 100m, obstacle, relay, lemon-andspoon and three-legged races. Spectacular displays of aerobics, yoga, karate, gymnastics and a folk dance followed. A highlight of the show was a power-packed lezim display presented by the `Zhankar Akshara Lezim Pathak’. Winners were felicitated at the prize distribution ceremony.
