CCE Grades for Yoga is now made mandatory by CBSE and it has been advised to include yoga as an activity for assessment. The Board has asked schools to see to it that the controversial ‘common yoga protocol’ developed by the  ministry of AYUSH, which consists of agendas such as chanting of ‘Om’ and shlokas, is regularly practiced by children of classes VI and above.

Furthermore, Joseph Emmanuel , the secretary of the CBSE has also directed schools to participate in International Yoga Day events on a ‘voluntary basis’, and to make the yoga-related activities a part of the daily school routines, as it is one of the protocol of AYUSH too where yoga activities have to be carried out throughout the year. The assessment grades will be shown in the annual report card. Another protocol needs ‘mass yoga demonstration’ by the whole school to be done once a week early in the morning.

To carry out this activities smoothly, CBSE has also asked schools to send one Yoga and physical education teacher for a certification course, organized by the AYUSH ministry in collaboration with Quality Council of India.
