Students may have not have to present their Class XII board marks for admissions to central engineering institutes except IITs from next year or by 2017. Furthermore, from the next year competitive exams may be held earlier. Due to submission of Class XII scores by the boards to CBSE this year, admissions to engineering colleges were based only on JEE (Main) results. It meant that 40% weightage was given to Class XII marks for admissions to NITs and other government-funded technical institutes (except IITs).
