Three colleges from Mumbai University (Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga; Birla College, Kalyan; and Guru Nanak College, GTB Nagar) were selected by the University Grants Commissions (UGC) for the ‘Community College’ Scheme for offering industry-oriented courses.
Ramnarain Ruia will be offering course in ‘pharma-analytical science’ as per the scheme; while Birla will be offering a diploma course in accounting and taxation, and Guru Nanak will be introducing a retail management course in collaboration with industries.
A total of 106 colleges were selected from across the country, of which 19 are from the state. As per the scheme, students will be imparted industry-based training at an affordable fee structure.
