School students from in and around Durgapur got a chance to showcase their scientific knowledge at the 4th Times-NIE Science Project competition, presented by NSHM Knowledge Campus. The event was held at the school premises. The projects were from life science, physical science and social science and included a life-saving transfusion device, mobile ac, reflex arc, rainwater harvesting and hydroelectricity producing apparatus, home-made Van De Graff generator and a hydraulic alarm among others.
DAV Public School Ranigunj came out on the top for their automatic railway gating system. The first runner-up was DAV Model School Durgapur for their auto-directing device for visually impaired. The second runner-up was Burnpur Riverside School for their project on the mechanism of bacteriophage replication. The six special appreciation awards were bagged by Bidhan School, East West Model School, Hemsheela Model School, DAV Durgapur, Guru Teg Bahadur Public School and Suresh Chandra Modern School.
