Maharashtra Report on National New Education Policy has indicated at flexibility and focus to be brought in school education. Poor Science and Math education accounts to 80 percent of total students failing in Class X Board Examination. Low enrolment in science stream at higher education level and poor quality education are the major constraints in the development of scientific manpower in the country.
The draft NEP talks about various measures to increase the learning level of students in math and science. Encouraging questioning in classes right from kindergarten should be done to prepare teachers in child psychology. Another major change suggested is to make graduation compulsory to become a teacher in primary classes. The draft policy proposes full-time instructors for ICT and adoption of at least 20 adults to train them in using app to pay bills and access healthcare facilities.
Another major suggestion is to have flexibility in school pattern and having an option for children with special needs to have a choice of subjects or skills.
