Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) said that the centre was planning to relieve government school teachers from non-academic assignments such as election duty to improve education quality. Deliberations are on to find out a solution so that teachers are not occupied in such non-academic work which adversely affects the education of children. Presently, government teachers are involved in elections, census surveys and other programmes. Government is planning ways to relieve teachers from such non-academic duties.
