When 15-year-old HAM radio operator Tom K Jose travelled to Hudhud-hit Visakhapatnam last October, little did he know that one day he would create history. His experience of saving dozens of lives has inspired the school education department to publish the tales in the class 11 SCERT English textbook. HAM radio seems to have caught the attention of students, and faculty of schools and even higher education institutes. In fact, both AP and Telangana education departments have included a small module on `Use of HAM radio during disasters’ in the syllabus currently being taught.
