Sanjay’s father is a vendor at Moynaguri and was so poor that he had to skip meals to pay for his sons tuitions. Seeing that he couldn’t afford to continue his sons education from his home, Sanjay shifted to Anandanagar to cut off his travel expenses. He stayed with his uncle who was a rickshaw puller by profession, but nevertheless assisted Sanjay in his success. It is terrific how struggling each day to live has not impacted Sanjay’s results even this much. Sanjay described how he got the motivation to study for 8 hours a day. His elder sister is still studying in a college and the younger siblings go to school. So it was a difficult ask for his father to continue all of their education. So his father and aunt skipped meals and Sanjay was thankful he could payback for their sacrifice. His parents were very happy with their sons performance and said that he has always been an exceptional student. Subai Sarkar, maybe a vendor but when it comes to being a father, he has shown great character in assisting his son towards his goal.
Another similar story hails from a place near Tarakeshwar, home of Tahmina Parwin. A student of Khsudrarampur High School, Tahamina came sixth in HS. Tahamina’s father is a farmer and his mother Runa Bibi is an assistant at an ICDS service. According to Tahamina, her parents support along with the support from Howrah Al Ameen Mission all contributed to her stellar success in Higher Secondary Results 2016. She aspires to become a researcher in the field of chemistry.
Sanjukta Ghosh is the daughter of a domestic help who hails from Balurghat High school and finds herself on the merit list of this years Higher Secondary Examination. Abandoned by her father, Sanjukta grew up in her mothers care at her grandfathers place. She has learnt by seeing her mother work like hell to see to her needs. Her grandfather took a temporary break from his retirement and worked as a tailor to assist Sanjukta. It is amazing that with nothing coming easy for this girl , marks came in abundance in HS, who was not really the first ranker in her own school. She has her own dreams of joining the civil service.
