IIT JEE Advanced Results 2016: JNV all the way

The IIT JEE Advanced Results 2016 witnessed the grand success of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya students with 233 qualifications out of the 315 who wrote the test. The success rate of JEE Advanced for this school is 73.9%, is lower than it’s JEE Main success rate of 95% but is still better than many coaching institutes. 12 Girls out of the 19 who sat for the exam also cleared the toughest engineering competitive of the nation.

Out of the 315 who appeared for the test, 238 prepared for JEE for two years immediately after Class X while 77 had taken a year off after Class XII. Of the 238 regular students who appeared, 172 have qualified for admission to IITs and other engineering colleges that accept JEE scores. Sixty-one of the 77 JNV students who took a year’s break have also made it, taking the total to 233. Students prepared as part of the Navodaya Dakshana JEE Scholarship programme at five JNVs:

  • Bangalore Urban
  • Bundi
  • Lucknow
  • Pune
  • Rangareddy

JNV students from all over India are brought to these JNVs after Class X. The Dakshana Foundation Founder, Mohnish Pabrai gave the credit to his entire team and coaching partners and also informed about their stretch goal of sending 2020 students to IIT in the year 2020. Mayank Chittora from Kota is the best performer this year with an AIR of 952. He went to JNV Bundi. Pranav Kumar Anupam from Madhepura in Bihar has an AIR of 968. Vinod Prakash Shekokar from Buldana in Maharashtra has an allIndia rank of 1,359 and is 15th-rank holder in the list for SC students. Shekokar went to JNV Pune. Anand Kumar Verma, originally from Bhabua in Bihar, has AIR 1,385 and is 185th in the OBC list. He was in JNV Pune.
