Schools in Rajasthan are to open a week early in order to celebrate the International Yoga Day on June 21st 2016. Rajasthan education minister Vasudev Devnani, has ordered the schools to ensure that the entire staff of each school should make necessary arrangements for Yoga (Day) on June 20. Furthermore, the staffs will also have to ensure that students of private schools and people living nearby areas should join Yoga from 7 A.M-8 A.M on 21st June.
Unlike last year, this year the minister didn’t make the Yoga Day compulsory for the teachers, but according to Suresh Sharma, treasurer, Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh, it was a clever thing done, because as the schools will reopen before the Yoga Day, teachers who won’t remain present will be marked absent, so the teachers are somehow obligated to make the event a success by turning up for the Day. Every year, schools reopen in the last week of June after summer vacation for teachers to make necessary arrangements so that classes can be resumed from July 1.
