JEE Results 2016 – 51 CBSE Schools in top 100

The JEE Results 2016 counts 50 candidates from CBSE schools, followed by 21 from the Telangana state board -two boards that saw 52% of their students make the cut in JEE (Main). Maharashtra gave seven candidates from its state board among the top 100 JEE (Main) scorers and was ranked third. Among all, 10,627 students were from the Maharashtrian state board clearingthe first hurdle and registering for JEE (Advanced), which is the gateway to IITs.The largest share of students clearing JEE (Main) were seen from the CBSE Schools, followed by 11,040 from the Telangana state board.
“Over time, we have seen the maximum students have come from CBSE. But below that, the order has altered,” said an official of JEE (Advanced).
In 2013, for instance, over 80% of the students had come from just three high school boards: CBSE and the state boards of Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, whereas next year it was CBSE, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat from where a large count of candidates joined.
