The HRD Ministry is mulling a proposal to encourage khadi uniforms in government schools across the country. This move can give a boost to khadi industry in particular and the rural economy in general. In the month of October 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pitched for the increase usage of khadi products as a homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
