Reversal of roles for the Parents and Kids as the Nutrition Workshop organized by Kidzee ‘Watch Me Grow’ was held recently at the Kasba outlet of Kidzee as part of the Kidzee Events 2016. The workshop, presented by PediaSure in association with the TeleKids was a grand success and several aspects of child nutrition was discussed in the event by nutritionist Soumyendu Ghosh.

The nutrition campaign was held over many other pre schools all across the city, a few of which are named below:

  • Dew Drops in Bhowanipore
  • Euro Kids in Majerhat
  • The Good Shepherd Mission School in Behala
  • Wonderland Academy in Dum Dum
  • Kidzee branches in new alipore, kasba, keshtopur, Garia Station, Deshapriya Park and Tollygunj

The few extracts from the event based on variety of angle are discussed below:

Nutritionist :

Most of the parents , specially the moms are no longer able to spend much time with their kids and hence are often anxious that maybe their kid is not well fed. Attention to a childs nutrition is absolutely mandatory because a proper balanced diet at this age is the key towards a better health in the future. Maintaining a proper timetable can prove fruitful in the long run. Often parents want their child to grow up before coming off age which is detrimental for a child’s proper and all round development.

Parents:

The  main problem is regarding the dislike of children towards food and it often becomes difficult for them to sit and eat. However apps such as Pedia Sure Growth tracker app is agreat initiative to keep track of your child’s nutritional need along with a check on the height and weight of the child. Providing distractions does come as a help but is not goof for health. Another problem faced is that due to lack of options, parents try to force feed their children and the workshop showed exactly why it is unadvisable.

The workshop is a great initiative because the health of kids determine their ability to perform later on at life. And a stunted growth or a tired kid is no joy to watch. So instead of focusing on what they are eating, the paradigm is now shifting towards when and how are they eating.
