The schedule of summative assessments has been shifted owing to the official extension of the summer vacations for two months in government funded and aided schools. The new exam schedule of the summative assessment got official approval on Thursday, in the meeting of the WBBSE and curriculum committee. However, the Primary education committee hasn’t yet decided anything.

The administrator of the WBBSE, Mr Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay said that the First summative assessment will take place in between 13th-22nd June, 2016 instead of in April. The schedule for the second summative examination, which was previously decided to be held on august, is now shifted and has to be completed by 7th September. The final exam for classes V-IX will not be held on the first week of December, as was scheduled earlier, under any circumstances. However the Pre-Test exams for the Madhyamik candidates will have to be completed by 3rd December 2016, at the most.”

On the other hand, the formative assessments generally occur as per the teachers on any given school day and therefore no decision regarding this, has been taken. But problem is that from 9th -20th June, a teaching-ability enhancement test for the teachers who are teaching in temporary positions or teachers teaching in primary and madhyamik school centres is to be held by West Bengal Rabindra Free School Committee. Therefore, there remains a doubt regarding conducting summative assessments as per the new schedule.
