Lumiere’15 an inter-Loreto meet was staged by the service wing of Loreto Schools in association with United Nations and JPIC. The journey from darkness to light, a voice against injustice on women was the central theme of Lumiere’15. The event featured three competitions- western dance, movie making and poster making themed on woman power. In western dance, Loreto Day School Bowbazar bagged the first prize for the depiction of a young girl as she fightsan abusive marriage and addiction to emerge out of the murk stronger than before. Colourful and confident strokes helped Loreto Day School, Sealdah to win the poster-making competition. The participants sketched goddess Durga, the representative of Shakti, holding a girl’s hand to protect her from the harm inflicted by the society. This event was organized so that students are aware of what exactly is going on in the society and voice their opinions on it.
