Soon class XII students across the country might have a uniform pattern of question paper in the board examinations and can have their books open in the examination hall. But the students might have to work harder since the questions might be more challenging rather than asking the same questions what they have memorised from their textbooks. These are some of the reforms that an eight-member committee formed by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development is actively debating on. Another main agenda of the committee is the Open Textbook Assessment (OBTA) system. During the recent meet of education boards, the Union School Education Secretary had formed the committee and has also urged the state and central boards to consider introducing OBTA pattern for the board exams.
