The Times Of India organized a career counseling session, “Mission Admission” at Rotary Sadan on Wednesday. Around 100 students took part in this session. One on-one sessions with the participants were held by the five counselors. Students were satisfied at the end of the day and gained plenty of knowledge about career opportunities.
Gaargi Poddar, a student of John Diocesan School, left the venue in high spirits. .“The session was extremely helpful. It gave me a clear idea on what I need to do in terms of interests, which lies in psychology, “she said. Gaargi was accompanied in the session with her father Rathindra Poddar.
The students had to register online for the seminar at www.missionadmission.com. They also had to take an aptitude test and carry a print out of the result for a better understanding at the seminar. Counsellors Gaurav Surana of Tutors Circle, Shouri Mitra of Opus, Spriha Patronobis of Umeed and Damini Jain Modi of iDream Career sat with the students and parents to gain a better knowledge about the wide scope of careers and opportunities.
Anindya Bhadra, who had came with his son Sayak Bhadra, a student of Calcutta Public School, said: “This is a wonderful initiative taken by TOI. A lot of information was disseminated to us.“
“The students were mainly interested in studying abroad and what needs to be done to get scholarships,” said Surana, director-founder of Tutor Circles and ICudB
Mitra said “Some of the students were really confused. One student who has biology asked me whether he could take up engineering. Another student asked me how to get into aviation management. I was struggling to understand what exactly he really wanted. Finally I realized he wanted to be a ground staff member at an airport. But a lot of queries came regarding hotel management, PR and journalism careers.“
The session was dedicated to school students and everyone was happy and they gained knowledge about the wide range of career opportunities in India and abroad.
