After reducing the number of competency tests from three to two, the state government has asked schools to conduct their own summative examinations if they haven’t conducted any yet. The state education department had earlier scheduled the second round of competency test in the month of October. The test would evaluate students in the first language and maths. Hence the circular stated that schools could have done so without holding semester examinations for these two subjects. A circular has been issued asking education department officials to instruct schools to hold the papers if they have not done yet.
