Waste paper donated by TOI readers helped TOI-Times Foundation’s Pasti ki Masti campaign save the education of three bright girl students by paying their fees.
- Vimala Parmar: Vimala stays with her parents and three brothers in a rented chawl in Motera. Her father is a daily-wage worker. Vimala is the eldest in her family and is in class 9 at a nearby private school. Her father earns Rs 5,000 per month. Vimala was asked to drop out of school because her three brothers were also going to school. The girl told the Pasti ki Masti team that she wants to become a computer engineer.The Pasti ki Masti team paid her school fees of Rs 2,250 this year.
- Chetana and Anita Chauhan: Chetana and Anita were on the verge of giving up their education when their father, was diagnosed with a serious kidney ailment and became bedridden. Their mother works in a garment unit and earns Rs 190 a day. She also brings home some stitching work in which she is supported by children. They have four children, Chetana being the eldest. Chetana is in second year BA. Their younger brother too suffers from a neurological disorder. Chetana and her sister Anita want to do LLB so that they can become lawyers. The Pasti ki Masti team paid Rs 1,310 towards the annual fees of the two sisters.
- Anjali: Anjali lives in a small rented room in Dariapur.She is in class 10 and goes to school in Shahpur area. She stays with her parents and two sisters. Recently, she stopped going to school because her parents could not pay the fees for her new term. Anjali wants to be an architect. Her parents work as domestic help and together earn Rs 8,500 a month. TOI-Times Foundation’s Pasti ki Masti team paid Rs 1,000 towards Anjali’s term fees and helped her continue her studies.
