Tata Sky is making life ‘jingalala’ for the students at least as the DTH service provider is in talks over launching a Preparatory Programme for JEE aspirants amongst its subscribers. Chief communication officer Malay Dikshit, said that with the launch of ‘Classroom’, the name for their new Venture they are hoping to provide classroom education at the comfort of home. The initiative will kick start with just Mathematics and Science from classes V to VIII under the CBSE syllabus, but they are looking into the JEE and other competitive entrance segments too.
The content for Tata Sky ‘Classroom’ will be prepared by the Tata group’s school education e-learning solution ‘ClassEdge’ , The company claims that the channel is an interactive platform with comprehensive coverage of each chapter, mock tests, games and animations. Rajesh Khandagale, chief commercial officer, said that the content for ‘ClassEdge’ and ‘Classroom’ ventures have been customized separately for internet, television and schools. There are 45 schools in West Bengal associated with the programme.
According to Dikshit, the channel will go a long way in addressing the education issues arising out of the high student-teacher ratio and the different learning capabilities of students. Tata Sky has set an objective of reaching out to 10 million students by 2025. The channel for which subscription starts from Rs 59 per month has been put up for free use for all Tata Sky users till June 19.
