Aneesha Bhakta, a student of Sudana School in Puttur, has made the town proud by bagging the Grand Gold Prize for her school science project at the national-level school science project competition which was held in Rajkot. She is qualified to take part in the I SWEEP World School Project competitions to be held in Houston in USA during the month of May. She has topped among the schools from New Delhi and Rajkot. Her project was titled “Hydrophobicity of Colocassia as Wall Insulator”. Through her project she has tried to use the hydrophobic character of Colocassia leaves to protect the exterior walls. The surface of the walls will be coated with wax extracted from the leaves. This will help to check fungus and water accumulation.
Apart from this success, she has won international fame by being one of the first Indian girl surfers to represent India in the ASC (Asian Surfing Championship).
