Private city schools have moved to the Bombay High Court demanding a stay on the state’s fee regulation act. The Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act 2011 was enforced in December last year and state schools was required to seek permission from the executive committee, consisting of parent-teacher association (PTA), if they wish to hike fees over 5%. Schools can hike fees only once in two years.
