The government’s notification to reduce the weight of school bags has added much pressure on schools. Majority of schools might not be able to afford e-education and provide shelvesfor their students. Prashant Redij of Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary School Principals Association said that out of the measures suggested, emphasis was on e-learning. There are not enough non-salary grants to indulge in tablets or e-content. City schools do not have large spaces for lockers too. Some schools were unable to implement measures as several non-academic work kept them busy. Teachers were busy updating online data for SARAL.
Primary Education Director said that if any schools are found to have not implemented the measures they will warn them and provide few days to get it done, and if schools fail, required actions will be taken.
