About 11.5 lakh students are likely to take Madhyamik examination next year; a rise of over 1.2 lakh compared to this years’ count. Sources in the SSC Board witnessed the rise, a record and attributed it to the practice followed by most schools of allowing as many students to take the exam as possible in the last year of the old syllabus.
The first batch of Madhyamik under the new syllabus will write the examination in 2017. If too many students are detained this time, schools can face problems accommodating the two sets of students. Several schools had not detained a single student in the Madhyamik selection test held recently, while some had arranged a special selection test who performed poorly in the main test.
