Bengal is going to get its first STEM-based school in Barrackpore which is situated some 25km from Kolkata to encourage more students to take up science and arrest the decline in interest in engineering. STEM is the acronym for “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics” – a US based teaching method that aims to inspire kids to become engineers rather than declining them. The STEM World School, situated in Barrackpore will have a STEM laboratory where attendance will be compulsory. The laboratory will accommodate 30 students at a time. The school will be affiliated to ICSE and admissions will take place from Playgroup to Class VI for the academic session 2015-16.
