Pure bliss is when you see toddlers in the age group 2-5 year singing and dancing in vibrant colors with outmost sincerity and innocence. A few such school fests and celebrations across primary and pre schools of Kolkata were witnessed. Let’s have a look at how the celebration of  Top 5 schools of Kolkata turned out:

The Heritage School

The most exciting thing about the musical- ‘A twist in the Tale’ was the fact that children performed to the all time favorite bedtime stories such as Little Red Riding Hood or Hansel and Gretel but with a twist. That’s right, the musical did not show any negative characters of the stories, but instead changed the storyline to fit into their theme. Nevertheless it is not every day that you otherwise see Red Riding Hood dancing on Zoobi Doobi with the Big Bad Wolf or a supportive step-mom for Cindrella! The principal Seema Sapru seemed elated at the way the kids performed and specially thanked the teachers for their effort to coordinate 467 toddlers!

Little Scholars

The playschools annual day function turned out to be a grand success. The theme ‘Rhythms of India’ was done justice by toddlers performing according to the various local and regional culture of the different states and focusing on the underlying morale of the theme—unity in diversity. There was also a skit by the elder ones on Swachha Bharat which was very appreciated. A lot many esteemed guests were present to grace the occasion with a few special mentions being that of St. Xaviers College Alumni Association’s honorary secretary Firdausal Hasan, DPS Megacity principal Indrani Shanyal , DPS Howrah principal Sunita Arora and Montessories of Calcutta President Rita Bose.

South City International School

The wizard of the Oz was the theme for the graduation ceremony of kids of pre-school and classes I & II. The show was a musical based on their own interpretation of the story. Though the audience was majorly comprised of a biased set of parents but  still the show was very nicely done and covered by the toddlers who danced and sang their way into the next step of the academic ladder. The principal John Bagul mentioned that how important it is for us to let the students express themselves in this fast and competitive world and thereby the child loses his or her innocence. The occasion was taken to a whole new level by the recitation of ‘Alo amar alo’ of Rabindranath  by Meeryug Hall, the wife of US-consul General in Calcutta, Craig Hall who happens to be a classically trained singer as well.

Sushila Birla Girls School

The annual day and prize distribution ceremony was themed on Incredible India. The prize distribution was for student of Nursery to Class V. The main highlights of the show was a dance drama on the life of jawans  performed by students of the primary section and a women empowerment themed performance.  The headmistress, Minnie Sengupta explained that in their attempt to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of their motherland they have chosen such a theme. The program was a success with students like Yashwini Nandy going home to a proud mother, for winning accolades.

Jewish Girls School

The annual concert of the Junior students brought to life the old Nursery rhymes and tales. While the students of class III staged a semi classical dance performance, the main highlight of the play was the musical-‘The Sky is Falling In’. The principal of the school, Indira Bhattacharya said that it was a remarkable performance given that the number of participants was in the 700’s and also complimented the combined effort of the parents and teacher as well as the students to make the program a grand success.
