The extended holidays for more than a month in schools due to heavy rain may finally come to an end, but all city schools are still not ready to open. The state government had declared holiday for all educational institution until this week, but some schools still say that they might not be able to perform even the next week.
Ravindra Bharati Global School in Nandambakkam was one of the badly affected schools due to torrential downpour as it is situated by the banks of Adyar River. A portion of the school’s compound collapsed during the first phase of rain. Though the school was ready to reopen, the second phase of rain hit them hard and made the situation even worse.
KR Montford School officials in Kolathur say that they require a few days to clean the campus as it was flooded and the roads are not safe for the children. CEO of KRM Schools of Bhuvanesh says that schools were keeping their students busy by conducting revisions over Skype sessions from Class VI to IX. Schools have decided to extend holidays and reopen by 5th January 2016 and start their examination schedule.
