Success in Sports at various City Schools:

  • Attacking pays off for BHS: Both BHS and LP Savani players kept the goalkeepers busy as attack was the major focus for both, right from the word `go’. BHS were the first to breach their opponents’ defence in the ninth minute. The confidence of BHS boys did not fade even with one player getting injured while trying to score in the 22nd minute. BHS doubled their lead in the 20th minute and sealed their victory with a third goal one minute before the final whistle.
  • KV missile strike downs Refinery: It was a battle of equals as both KV Boys and Gujarat Refinery took each other on aggressively. Gujarat Refinery players were on the top in the first half as they created some chances to net the ball but failed to convert. KV came back in the game in the second half by stepping up the attack to put pressure on Refinery.
  • Dimple makes it simple for Tejas: Girls from Tejas Vidyalay took on St. Xavier’s School from Valsad. While the match was evenly poised initially, with attacks invariably met by counters, Tejas took charge once Dimple Ahluwalia scored in the 11th. Mrunali added a goal for Tejas in the 13th, effectively sealing the Xavierites’ fate.
  • Vatsalya shows Goenka tough love: Vatsalya girls went on the rampage from the word ‘go’ as they took charge of the match against GD Goenka School a few minutes from the opening whistle and pushed G D Goenka into a corner.
  • Rosary hit GPS for a six: A moment of incoordination between GPS boys gave Rosary an early lead as Raj scored for Rosary in the 3rd minute. Despite some saves by the GPS goalie, Rosary doubled the lead in the 7th minute. GPS made some desperate attempts to score in the second half, but was unable to go past the defence.
  • Divine Child outstand KV Harni in thriller:It was a Chak De moment when Divine Child scored the winning goal in extra time. A header from Ram Bhensla helped Divine Child edge past K V Harni boys who had put up a solid defence towards the end.The game was a battle of equals as both teams played with aggression threw in some smart moves on the field.KV owed both its goals to the Divine goalie, who came forward and the ball fly past him into the net.
  • DPS wins battle of goalies: The last match of Day II saw goalkeepers emerging as the heroes of the day. Both teams missed multiple opportunities to take the lead. DPS stepped up its game in the second half and could have gained the lead, but play ended with the American goalie instead.DPS’s relentless attack paid off in the 37th minute as Jalak shot in past the unfortunate goalie after getting a good cross.
