All of us, at some point of time or the other has felt the repulsion from the thought of going back to school straight after Summer Vacation. In fact, so common is this phenomenon that even adults use the phrase “going back to school” at the end of their holidays. So the question of the hour is how to tune these kids so that they look forward to the new term as an exciting prospect instead of a forceful imposition upon their little shoulders? Though a difficult task, child experts and psychologists do believe that a few steps taken by the guardian towards ensuring that their child looks forward to their experience at school can come in handy. A few such tips are highlighted below:
- Get the kids involved with the associated goods of their academic year such as notebooks, pen-pencils, uniforms, etc. It is noticed that the interest that arises out of their involvement with such things spark their interest in school and its activities which makes use of those very things in the first place.
- Every kid loves new things. So if possible, make sure that the kid at least has one new ‘weapon for his trade’. A new bag, lunch case or maybe a new eraser is sometimes enough to kindle his/her excitement. In fact, with the kids of this generation there is a craze for possessing accessories with the image of their favourite superhero from a cartoon. So chhota bheem and spider-man can really come in handy!
- Make him/her accustomed to their school environment while they are in vacation itself by arranging for a get together. Meeting friends sometimes really becomes that one last push you need to want to go someplace where you might get to spend more time with them. Even prospects of making a new friend can charge him up for his new term at school.
- Another important method can be simply giving them a pep-talk. Talk to them and tell them how thrilling it can be to make new friends, learn new and interesting things, the extra-curriculars they can pursue at school and so on.
Hopefully, employing these tricks will surely ensure that the kids won’t look gloomy and sad on the school reopening day anymore!
