The Tamil Nadu Rugby team won a bronze medal in the inaugural of all-India sub-junior U-14 nationals in Gandhinagar. Though they lost to Gujarat in the semis, but drubbed Haryana at 10-0 to win the third position. While Maharashtra were the winners, Gujarat were the runners-up. The majority of the Tamil Nadu Boys were from the districts and studied in government schools. The players were from Chennai, Kanchipuram, Vellore, studying in government higher secondary schools. Some were from Chennai higher secondary schools, St. Thomas Matriculation School andChildren Homes. The tournament featured seven-a-side gameswith five substitutes. The team was trained at RTO beach, Thiruvanmiyur and Thoraipakkam Government School ground.
