“Civilization depends on discussion, debate and discourse. Democracy is created through opinion formed through debates. Those who run away from debate are ideologically bankrupt, and this is the case from panchayats to Parliament.“ These words were spoken by Educationist KE Radha Krishnan during the launch of the 11th edition of Verbattle. 2000 students from 1000 schools in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh were expected to participate in Verbattle.
The winning team was rewarded with an amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Deepak Thimaya, the founder of Verbattle Foundation said that, “Through Verbattle, children understand the need to respect another opinion, which helps build perspective. This is healthy for the growth of democracy.”
