Woodworkers toil to support needy students-

Meenamma had to forget school as she found it difficult to sit on the floor with her paralyzed foot. Her government school classroom was devoid of even basic infrastructure like chairs and desks. She hasn’t been to school for the past couple of months.

To ensure Meenamma and other underprivileged children don’t miss out classroom lessons due to lack of facilities, 1,100 woodworkers laboured for a day, free of cost. Armed with their tools, they carved out new furniture from broken chairs and benches, helping 161 organizations, including government schools, orphanages and hospitals.

The Whitefield school, along with Government Primary School in Moodalapalya which has 450 children from low income groups received refurbished desks and benches.
