The Government has declared that Yoga has to be made compulsory in CBSE curriculum for Classes XI and XII while for other classes it should be held twice a week as a part of their physical activity programme.
Informing this in a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Ayush Minister Shripad Yasso Naik said that yoga has also been made as a compulsory part of study and practice by National Council for Teacher Education. According to HRD ministry, around 15,962 schools affiliated to CBSE have already been advised to provide compulsory yoga classes from standard I-X for at least 40-45 minutes every day.
