Best HSC score in a decade

Maharashtra witnessed the best score in HSC after a decade for both fresher and repeaters. 87.9% students had passed this year (including fresher and repeater) and the percentage has risen by 3.9% compared to the last year. The overall success rate of the state had risen by 23% since 2005. In Mumbai division which comprises of Mumbai, Thane and Raigad; the success rate increased from 81.1% to 86%. Despite of the 6% rise, the division held the 8th position in the state. The first position was obtained by Konkan region with 94.2%.
City scorers, Taniya Gupta and Aniket Shikre, students of Pace Science Junior College scored 96.92% in Science. Tanvi Doshi of RA Podar College scored 95.08% in Commerce. Nishtha Sangoi of Mithibai College scored 92.61% in the Arts stream.
Girls yet again outshone boys with a pass percentage of 90.7% of 1.4 lakh girls, while the pass percentage of boys was 82.1% of 1.7 lakh boys.
