What better way to pay a tribute to the legendary writer of India than some school kids on his birth anniversary performing with utmost maturity, his dance dramas and songs that have moved generations together? That’s right. On the Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the poet was remembered in fondness by students of three different schools who tried to their level best to depict a few of the poet’s famous dance dramas , songs and poems in their own small way.
At National English School, the programme started with a beautiful and soulful melody sang by the school choir as they hummed the very famous “Anandaloke Mongolaloke”. The teachers chipped in with the coming of age song which was recently remade-“Tomar khola hawa”, alongwith “Akhon ar deri naa”. The event soon became more visual with the excellently choreographed play which saw the transformation of Ratnakar the thug to Saint Ratnakar.
The students of Youth Horizons School also paid tribute to the Bard of Bengal through his own songs. Similarly, at another end, the theme for the tribute at Heritage Academy High School was Basanta Utsav-a dance drama depicting the colors of seasons accompanied by a medley of popular numbers like “Ore grihobashi”, “Ami pothbhola Ek pothik” and “ Rangiye diye jao”. The students of Satish Chandra Memorial School matched steps to Mor Bhabonare, Poush Toder, Esho hey boisakh and many m ore.
