The Gujarat Education Department has planned to include private schools in the annual evaluation drive, Gunotsav this year. The drive which got delayed due to local body elections is scheduled to be held from 7th-9th January. Students from Class VI-VIII will undergo reading and writing test during the evaluation drive. Such a test was limited to Class V only till now. During the previous Gunotsav it was revealed that students of upper primary classes fail to read and write simple sentences. Sources revealed that idea to include private schools under the evaluation drive has come up after analysing the poor performance of the students in the state board examinations.
Gunotsav 2016 will include:
- Private Primary Schools to be evaluated along with government and grant-in-aid schools
- Students of Class VI-VIII to undergo reading and writing test along with subject related MCQ test
- MPs to be roped in
- Officials to evaluate same schools they visited during the enrolment drive, Praveshotsav
- Sanitation, health, anganwadi and other issues to be discussed during the meeting with parents and villagers by officials
