Anjali Rajput
Anjali has been battling life from all fronts. Her mother was diagnosed with tuberculosis recently but she cannot afford to skip her work. Her mother Kusum works in a local incense stick manufacturing unit and earns daily wages, barely able to meet Anjali’s fees and run their house. Her father suffers from severe asthma and cannot work. Times Foundation-TOI Pasti Ki Masti paid Rs. 1,900towards her books.
Alfinabanu Mohammed
Alfina studies in Grade 4 at FD School. This modest family lives in a rented room with three children. Alfina’s father is an auto rickshaw driver and earns Rs. 200 per day. The major chunk of his daily earning goes after the rent of the vehicle. Her mother assists in the family income by taking up stitching and earns 40/- a day. Times Foundation-TOI paid fee of Rs 1,500 from the Pasti ki Masti income for Alfina’s remaining academic session.
Hetal & Vaishali Koshti
These two sisters live in a chawl with their mother Gita and a brother in IsanpurWhile Hetal has just entered class X, Vaishali is in the ninth grade. Their father Dhaniram died four years ago because of cancer.Their mother had to join a local bidi-rolling unit in the neighbourhood to make ends meet. She earns 75/- a day which barely meets their daily needs.Times Foundation-TOI paid Rs 3,760 towards the fees of both sisters, obtained from the proceeds of sale of old newspapers.
Nisha & Aarti Patni
Nisha studies in seventh grade while Aarti studies in fifth grade at Pushpvihar Prathmik Shala. Their father runs a tea stall at Ellis Bridge. He earns 150/- a day.Nisha wants to be a nurse and serve poor patients while Aarti wants to become a teacher and work with underprivileged children.Times Foundation-TOI used the Pasti ki Masti income to pay Rs 3,500 fees for both girls.
