A committee of experts were set up to examine the ‘one exam one rank’ for admissions to prestigious technical institutes of the country has recommended a common entrance test both for IITs and NITs and doing away with the weightage given to Class XII board exam results. The committee report released by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry made it clear that the existing format will be in trend for the next year. Since this process will take some time, it was decided that JEE 2016 shall be conducted in the same manner as 2015 as said by the HRD Ministry. The recommendations were aimed at reducing pressure on students and to put a check on the menace of coaching centres.
