‘MILAAP’, the Inter School Cultural fest 2016, hosted by Lakshmipat Singhania Academy in association with Spicmacay, saw a host of vibrant and colorful events. Around 25 schools participated in this event from across the city. The event had a plethora of activities ranging from sal leaf painting, jute craft, basket decoration, classical dance and more such events which roughly adds up to 85 on and off stage activities. According to Meena Kak, principal of the school, the events and activities are more or less aligned on the lines of cultural and regional diversity of beautiful India. Not only does the principal of the host school, but also the students, find this a great enriching experience for them. Anoushka Dasgupta, a class XII senior student of Mahadevi Birla World Academy was quoted saying that participation in Milaap “teaches a lot about our country and that instills a great sense of good feeling”. One of the highlights of the event were the beautifully choreographed performance from the girls team of the Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School which portrayed the famous traditional dance of Kashmir called ‘Dhumal’. Many such regional dance forms and folklore were performed by the students which really scaled the country’s diverse culture and heritage well onto the events of the fest.
