National High School which was set up by Anne Besant turned 98. The school was once associated with the freedom struggle. A three day celebration is on the campus to mark the celebration. National High School is not an elite educational institution, yet it has survived for almost a century despite the commercial turn education has taken. The school was initially set up by Dr. Anne Besant at Basavanagudi in the year 1917. It had played host to eminent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and C Rajagopalachari who visited the institution during the days of Indian Independence struggle.
