School trustees in the State have demanded that the government should withdraw its new implemented Fee Regulation Act which allows schools to increase fees only once in two years. Schools have also demanded a rise in the compensation received for admitting students under the Right to Education Act 2009.

According to the Maharashtra Educational Institutions Act 2011, schools require approval from the executive committee from the parent teachers association before initiating a fee hike. Schools are allowed to hike fees only once in two years and to a maximum of 15%.

The Maharashtra English School Trustees Association also demanded the state that instead of putting a cap on the fees, they must allow them to terminate the admission of students who fail to pay the fees for a complete academic year. The association has also demanded that the state must provide education material, books and uniform for students admitted under RTE quota.
