Twenty cricketers of the St. Xaviers Collegiate School Cricket Team, 3 Alsoc members, the coach and the school’s principal, Father Benny Thomas will be leaving Calcutta for Leicester City on May 25th to take part in the Good will Cricket Tournament, hosted by the Leicester City Cricket Academy. The school team will initially play a few warm-up matches to get accustomed to the conditions and from there on will take on the local teams for 35 over matches.
According to the former cricketer and team mentor Raju Mukherjee, this is probably the first time that any school team is going abroad to participate in such a competition. He also said that though most of the students in the team will not become cricketers in the future, but the experience will definitely help them in their personal development.
