The Education Department has decided to use the messaging app WhatsApp to ensure faster reach of new policies and information on teaching techniques to teachers in remote areas of the state. The department has asked all government-run schools in the state to create groups exclusively of teachers for the purpose. A circular which has been issued by the primary education department has asked teachers in each taluka in the state to form a WhatsApp group of 100 members each. Details of these groups will have to be provided to the education officer and the group education officer of respective districts. These officers will then compile the details and submit them, along with that of the group admins. The respective admins of these groups will be made members of another group moderated by the education department, which will directly disseminate information about teaching practices or government circulars to these groups.
