Mass copying could not be curbed in the recently conducted Madhyamik examinations despite of umpteen measures. The West Bengal Higher Secondary Council is now determined to stop the malpractice in the Higher Secondary examination. The officials have lined up a series of steps to make the exam free and fair. Answer scripts of candidates caught with mobile phones inside the examination venue will be cancelled. Only the venue supervisor is authorised to use a cell phone. There will be an additional third invigilator in examination centres from this year. The third measure will be to empower the supervisors with additional ID cards. The venue supervisor will distribute question papers according to the number of candidates sitting in each room and hand them over in sealed envelope to the invigilators. Around 75 examination venues among 204 have been identified as sensitive. The state administration has arranged for police patrolling in the venues so that outsiders can be kept at bay. Even women police force will be accompanying them.
