The Summer Camp 2016— Kolkata For Kids, in association with The TOI has finall concluded with a bang on 30th May 2016. The key highlights of the final day involve the 3 camps à Horse Riding, Visit to Radio Mirchi Station and a visit to the TOI press.  More than 60 children had their first horse-riding experience and also had a taste of how life is inside a radio station with their visit to the 98.3 FM studio on Camac Street and also their maiden press visit to the TOI press in saltlake

The day started off at the Tollygunge Club paddock  where riding trainer  Shane Demegio gave a bunch of young riders their first trot on a horse. Each of the 26 children were taken for a round on horseback. Demegio introduced the youngsters to their horses. They learnt the names of the horses and even fed them. Skills such as mounting, trotting, riding and disembarking were all taught to them.

Following this, the children gathered at the radio mirchi studio where they had an experience of a lifetime. They were shown how songs are selected from the library and played. RJ Labanya, conducted the session where she demonstrated live telephone interactions with listeners. According to Ishita Goswami a student of class III, it was one of the most exciting moments for her. She was well versed now on how broadcasting and sessions are aired.

The last halt was very enlightening for the group as they found themselves looking at a printing press working in full fledge. The youngsters watched with interest as the machines rolled and the conveyor belt zipped, delivering newspapers at a rapid pace. This was evident from the way Ayan Gupta, a class IV student explained his awe when he saw that how negatives are rolled to form the very newspaper he sees his parents read in the morning.
