The Gujarat government has decided to stop implementing the ‘No Detention Policy’ (NDP). This means students will have to clear their exams from class 1 and 8. The Decision to part ways from the NDP, which was implemented as part of the Right to Education Act (RTE) across the country, aims to improve quality of education.
Minister of education in the state has announced that it will be implemented from the current academic year. The students cannot be promoted if they fail examinations.
