Third GM Norm for Diptayan, a Student of South Point School

Diptayan Ghosh, a student of South Point School, earned his third and final Grandmaster norm, when he played out a draw with compatriot with Swapnil Dhopade in the last round of the 6th HD Bank Cup International Open, in Ho Chi Mihn City. Diptayan, a product of The Telegraph Schools’ Chess Championship, remained undefeated in the nine-round event, scoring six points. Diptayan got his first GM norm in Dubai in the year 2013. The second came in Pardubice (Czech Republic) in the year 2015. He will be the youngest GM from Bengal. The world chess federation (Fide) will ratify the results and declare him as a GM after completing the formalities.
