The class IX Marathi medium students from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a Union territory (UT), will be following the curriculum designed by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The state board had earlier given affiliation to nine Marathi medium schools of the Union territory. About 500 students will appear for the Maharashtra board exam in March 2017.

A letter dated 11th March, 2015, given to the Maharashtra State Council of Education Research and Training (MSCERT) stated that the schools were earlier affiliated to the Gujarat State Board which led to problems in understanding for students as the question papers too were in Gujarati. Hence, the administration decided to transfer the affiliation of its Marathi medium schools to Maharashtra board.
